About

I became a master writer and editor by doing everything that needs doing in a newsroom. As a reporter, I observe carefully, listen respectfully, and produce concise copy on deadline. As a feature writer, I put sources at ease with acceptance and draw them out with curiosity and compassion. Writing columns challenges me to reveal myself in prose that stirs the imagination and touches the heart.

Through many years of editing copy, I have learned to wield complex rules of grammar and word usage with grace. I apply my knack for poetry to the art and science of headline writing. As an editorial writer, I have learned to Jameson Headshot 3champion bold ideas with passion and reason while acknowledging competing values; I have also learned to set aside my opinions while helping an editor or publisher mount a persuasive argument. You’ll find my complete résumé under the About link and writing samples under the Feature Writing, Commentary and Creative Writing links.

Count on my professionalism. I’m reliable, flexible and responsive to my clients’ needs. I fulfill my agreements and hit my deadlines. I’m conscientious in my billing. Both my newspaper colleagues and my corporate clients heartily vouch for my integrity. I will be happy to provide testimonials and references.

A one-man operation with a handful of steady clients, I welcome new partnerships and one-time assignments. If you like my work and need a freelance editor or writer, then please contact me and lay out your editorial needs.

While my vocation includes journalism, commercial writing, fiction and poetry, it is deeper and broader than all of those undertakings. I learned wordcraft because it empowers me to explore my soul and, through it, the human condition. My exploration has encompassed the study of Western philosophy, psychology and Buddhism. I share my thoughts in columns and essays presented under the Creative Writing and Commentary links. I welcome dialogue with site visitors who share my concerns.

Please let me know how I might be of service.
